Windows 11 Announces Native Android App Support
As anticipated, Microsoft hosted a Windows 11 announcement event today to get everyone excited for the upcoming release that is expected to arrive later this year (around Nov or December).
This is the biggest Windows update rollout in the past decade. The Windows 11 introduces a refreshing new take in design and layout but more importantly, it introduces some nifty enhancements and new features.
Key Highlights
The key highlights can be summarized into a short 2-minute video. Alternatively, you can also visit the Windows 11 official site to learn more.
As for us, we’re definitely most excited about Android apps being natively available on Windows 11!
This is made possible through Intel Bridge technology that allows Amazon Android apps to be executable on Windows 11.
In other words, users will only be able to download Android apps if they are available on the Amazon app store instead of the Google Playstore. It is also worth noting that you’ll be required to have an Amazon and Microsoft account to download the apps.
This move will greatly break the barriers navigating between different devices and platforms. Essentially allowing users to user their favourite apps on their preferred devices.
Availabilty of Windows 11
As mentioned, Windows 11 is announced to be released closer to the holiday season which is towards the end of 2021 in November or December.
It will be released as a free update for all existing Windows 10 users and it will not be a mandatory upgrade.
