1. Facebook plans to rebrand with a new name

You heard right! According to reports by The Verge, Facebook has plans to rename and rebrand itself. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to talk about the name change at the company’s annual Connect conference on October 28th, but could unveil sooner.

Why the name change? This is in line with the tech giant’s ambition to be known for more than social media. Mark Zuckerberg also has huge ambitions of developing a metaverse as it continues to venture further into the AR and VR industry. With such great ambitions, a name change seems appropriate.

2. Donald Trump to release new social media platform

Former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump is set to launch his very own social media platform – TRUTH Social. This move comes following Trumps ban from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube earlier this year.

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump said in the statement.
