EVs are operated with sophisticated software. This covers everything from non-critical systems like the infotainment system and cabin lighting to essential features like theft prevention and battery health management.
As such, EVs get more frequent software updates than their ICE counterparts. Besides this, manufacturers can resolve potential problems or bugs with a simple over the air update delivered to every vehicle at the same time. This is far more convenient than issuing a recall or making an appointment for a physical service procedure.
