Snapdragon 888 vs Exynos 2100
As we all know by now, the Samsung Galaxy S21 series in Malaysia features the Exynos 2100 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 888. The Exynos 2100 is no doubt a huge step up from the previous Exynos 990 found in the S20 series. But, how does it compare against the Snapdragon 888?
With OPPO and XiaoMi reported to follow Vivo’s footstep in using Exynos chipsets in their budget phones, it’s important to understand more about these chipsets by Samsung.
Thankfully, SpeedTest G has done the bulk of testing work for us. Using the Speed Test G methodology of testing devices, the findings are then presented in an exciting and engaging format.
The Speed Test G measures speed across three main areas: the CPU, GPU and Mixed. In this test, the Exynos CPU out performs the Snapdragon 888 but loses out in the other two categories:
Snapdragon 888 | Exynos 2100 | |
---|---|---|
CPU | 34.7 seconds | 33.4 seconds |
Mixed | 18.1 seconds | 20.1 seconds |
GPU | 26.1 seconds | 33.6 seconds |
TOTAL | 1:19.0 | 1:27.2 |
Overall, the Exynos 2100 clearly lags behind in terms of graphic processing. Perhaps if not using the device for heavy gaming, the effects will not be so noticeable. Unfortunately, the S21 series will not come with an option for the Snapdragon 888. The only way around would be to buy an imported model from Korea.
Final Thoughts: Exynos 2100 vs Snapdragon 888
We don’t think you need to be overly concern about the poorer performance of the Exynos 2100. Overall it is still a relatively decent chipset and it in fact ranked #4 by nanoreview. Especially if you are not a heavy gamer or doing video edits on your device, we reckon that you would not even notice the poorer performance.
