Ryt Bank now supports account activation through ATMs and bank branches

By Alyaa Najwa August 17, 2026

Ryt Bank has made getting started a little easier for people who don’t use online banking. The AI-powered digital bank now allows customers to activate and fund their accounts through any ATM or bank branch in Malaysia, removing the need for an online banking account during the setup process.

That fills a gap that’s tripped up plenty of digital bank sign-ups before. Since digital banks like Ryt don’t have their own branches, funding a new account has usually meant transferring money in through online banking, which leaves out anyone who hasn’t set that up or simply prefers not to use it. The new option gives them a more familiar way to get started.

Here’s how to activate your Ryt Bank account using an ATM or bank branch:

  1. Open the Ryt Bank app and go to the account dashboard.
  2. Tap “Add money”.
  3. Select “Use another method”.
  4. Choose either “ATM transfer” or “Visit a bank branch”.
  5. Deposit or transfer at least RM1 using any bank’s ATM or branch in Malaysia.
  6. Once the funds are received, the account will be activated within one working day.

For the ATM transfer, head to any nearby bank ATM, insert your debit card and select “Transfer.” Make sure the account name matches your IC before continuing. Next, choose “Interbank GIRO,” select “Savings Account,” then transfer at least RM1 and choose “Ryt Bank” from the list. Enter your Ryt Bank account number to complete the transfer.

If you prefer to visit a bank branch, remember to bring your MyKad. Let the bank officer know that you would like to make an Interbank GIRO (IBG) transfer to Ryt Bank, then fill in the required details, including your Ryt Bank account number and Ryt Bank’s address. You will need to deposit at least RM1 to activate your Ryt Bank account.

For a bit of background, Ryt Bank is Malaysia’s first fully AI-powered digital bank. It launched to the public back in August 2025 as the fifth and newest of the country’s five licensed digital banks, and like the rest, it’s licensed by Bank Negara Malaysia and protected by PIDM, which covers deposits up to RM250,000 per depositor.

So if you’ve been meaning to give Ryt Bank a try but got stuck at the funding step, this new option clears that hurdle. You can find the full walkthrough and FAQs on Ryt Bank’s official website.
