Meta Horizon Worlds coming soon to mobile and web
Meta Horizon Worlds, a virtual reality online video game developed by Meta Platforms, will be available for web and mobile users soon.
To give you a brief background, The Meta Company (the same guys who own Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) developed Horizon Worlds to breakthrough the virtual reality (VR) market. It offered a virtual platform for users to build communities and connect with others in a VR world. Aside from playing games, users could also watch live events and host social activities.
Before this, Horizon Worlds was only available to play on Oculus Rift S and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
Horizon Worlds has not met the hype it intended. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, users simply stopped returning to the app after the first month.
It’s unclear if the lack of users was the main prompt for Meta to launch Horizon Worlds for web and mobile.
Regardless, Meta Platforms has already begun its expansion of Horizon Worlds and is ready to release the first game, Super Rumble, to Android users. It will be released on iOS eventually.
It is now currently only available to a limited pool of users via the Meta Quest app on Android.
For the web version, you can request access to the game here.
We can expect more to be added to the web and mobile versions of Horizon Worlds soon, including more games, events, and activities.
It’s reported that it will also feature cross-platform play, which means users can interact with others regardless of what device they are using – whether it’s web, mobile, or headset.
