Malaysians are getting a brand new Netflix app, now with TikTok-style ‘Clips’

Netflix is rolling out a refreshed mobile experience in Malaysia, introducing a TikTok-style vertical video feed called ‘Clips’ alongside a redesigned user interface that aims to make discovering movies, TV shows and games faster and more personalised.
Much like short-form video platforms, Clips lets users scroll through bite-sized moments from Netflix content. You get a personalised vertical video feed designed for those moments when you’re casually browsing, like over lunch or while waiting for someone. From that feed, you can then add titles you come across to your My List, share clips with friends, or jump directly to a show’s page and start watching the whole thing properly.

Netflix says the feed is personalised based on each member’s viewing habits and interactions, helping surface content that is more relevant to individual tastes.
The company also revealed that it plans to experiment with themed Clip collections in the future. These curated feeds could focus on specific genres, moods or interests, including reality TV highlights, behind-the-scenes footage and even podcast snippets.

Clips was announced the new Netflix Playground, which is a dedicated area within Netflix Games aimed at children and families. Starting 20 June, Netflix will add a new KPop Demon Hunters game collection featuring six minigames.
Unlike many mobile games, Netflix Playground remains free of advertisements and in-game purchases. The company says the platform is designed as an extension of Netflix’s kids profiles and content ecosystem.

Netflix is also placing greater emphasis on curated collections and themed recommendation hubs. Part of this move is the ‘Watch Your Favourite Books’ section, which helps viewers discover film and TV adaptations of popular books.
According to Netflix, these themed collections are designed to combine algorithmic recommendations with human curation, making content discovery feel more like receiving a recommendation from a friend.
The update is already available in Malaysia alongside Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and India. According to Netflix, the new experience will expand to more countries across Asia Pacific in the coming months, with Korea and Japan set to receive the update in July.
