iiiF150 Air 2 Ultra: World’s thinnest rugged phone coming to Malaysia on 25 April
Unless you’re big into camping gear and living life outdoors, you might not have heard of the brand iiiF150. This Chinese manufacturer is actually one of the few brands specialising in rugged smartphones, and it seems that they’re coming to Malaysia soon.
iiiF150 Malaysia’s Facebook page was started late last year, but only went active in the last month of so. In particular, they are now teasing the launch of the Air 2 Ultra, a rugged smartphone that they claim is the world’s thinnest rugged smartphone.
Originally launched globally last year, the Air 2 Ultra measures just 8.5mm thin and weighs 230g. That’s not particularly impressive for normal devices sure, but the Air 2 Ultra is capable of being water resistant at 6m depths for up to 24 hours, has STD-810H military grade durabilty and is IP68/IPX9K dust and water resistance certified.
You get a TitanFrame chassis built with HZH-5.9 aluminum and CarbonEdge bezels to allow it to be lightweight and strong, complete with a fighter jet-inspired design for its camera bumps that also has 8 LEDs that light up during calls, notifications and while charging.
As for its display, the Air 2 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch FHD+ Flexible AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 2600nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. iiiF150 also claims that the AIr 2 Ultra is the first rugged smartphone to have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, the Air 2 Ultra is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 system-on-chip, with 16GB of memory and up to 512GB of storage. There’s also support for up to 2TB of expandable storage. No mention of any software support policy though, with the Air 2 Ultra coming with Android 14 out of the box.
In the camera department, the AIr 2 Ultra comes with a main 108MP camera, flanked by a 64MP ‘Night Vision’ sensor and another pair of infrared sensors, as well as a 32MP selfie shooter upfront. Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 5000mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging.
Globally, the iiiF150 Air Ultra 2 has a USD383 (~RM1,512.85) price tag. Whether or not that translates into a similar retail price here however remains to be seen. Stay tuned to us here at PriceShop Malaysia for more information on the Air Ultra 2 once it launches.
