By Raymond Saw October 6, 2026

Having just only been announced in China, the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max seems set to be making its way to Malaysia very soon. That’s because during the Bahrain GP in Malaysia over the weekend, Honor teased their latest flagship smartphone by bringing it out alongside the professional photographers on trackside.

In fact they’ve not only showcased it, but also used the Magic 9 Pro Max to take some photos of the cars on track to show off some sample shots of what it can do:

For some context on the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, it was developed in collaboration with Arri, a German manufacturer of film and cinema equipment. This gives the Magic 9 Pro Max added imaging and video features such as the Arri LogC3 Curve, 10-bit colour, Arri Wide Gamut 3 and preset Arri Looks. In terms of hardware, it packs a main 200MP, f/1.6 camera flanked by a 200MP, f/2.6 periscope telephoto offering a 3.5x optical zoom along with a 50MP, f/2.0 ultrawide, while a 55MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter sits up front.

Under the hood, the Magic 9 Pro Max comes with the recently-launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, mated to up to 16GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage. It comes with Magic OS 11 out of the box, skinned over Android 17. The display meanwhile is a 6.8-inch OLED panel pushing a 2868 x 1320 resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 10,000nits.

Of course, there’s no details on local pricing and availability for now, but we do at least know that in China, the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max starts at RMB 6,499, which is roughly RM3,963.
