RHB to charge merchants up to 0.60% on DuitNow QR payments

RHB Bank is revising the fees it charges merchants for accepting DuitNow QR payments, with the new rates taking effect on 26 October 2026. The bank informed its business customers of the change in a notice dated 3 October.
Under the revised Merchant Discount Rate (MDR), merchants will be charged 0.35% of the transaction value when a customer pays using a current or savings account, or an e-wallet. Payments funded by a credit card, on the other hand, will come with a higher MDR of 0.60%.

To put that into perspective, a merchant receiving a RM100 payment through DuitNow QR from a customer’s bank account or e-wallet will see RM0.35 deducted. If the same amount is paid using a credit card, the deduction goes up to RM0.60.
The new rates apply to DuitNow QR payments processed across RHB’s card terminal devices, DuitNow QR Sound Box and Sound Box+, as well as Reflex Mobile and Tent Cards. Consumers will not be affected by the change, as the fee is charged directly to merchants rather than end-users.
RHB stated that the revision aligns with the evolving payment landscape and ongoing servicing requirements, ensuring it can continue providing consistent service quality. Merchants seeking further details on the new rates are advised to contact their RHB home branch.
