Clean Phone Tips: 6 Simple Steps To Keep Your Phone Clean
Did you know that having a clean phone correlates with your health? Nowadays, we must wash our hands after touching countertops, door handles, and many more. However, the dirtiest surface we could be touching is our cell phone. It’s time to clean.
It’s good practice to clean your electronic devices regularly. Not only does a thorough cleaning prevent you from falling ill, but it also helps prolong the life of your phone.
Here is what you can do to keep a clean phone on you at all times.
The 6 Simple Steps to Keep Your Phone Clean
Clean Phone Tip: Step #1 – Remove Your Phone’s Case and Switch it Off
Remove your phone’s protective case or cover and turn it off. With a dry toothbrush, gently remove the lint and debris out of the ports of your device.
Clean Phone Tip: Step #2 – Wipe with a microfiber cloth
Gently wipe the outside of your phone with a clean microfiber cloth to get rid of smudges and dirt. Instead of tissue paper or a cloth, you should use a microfiber cloth, as they absorb grease well and have a larger area to trap dirt.
Clean Phone Tip: Step #3 – Wipe your screen with disinfecting wipes. Be careful to avoid the ports.
Disinfecting wipes with 70% isopropyl alcohol are safe to use on electronic devices. Gently wipe down your phone while avoiding the ports. Be sure to clean the front and back.
Clean Phone Tip: Step #4 – Air dry for up to 5 minutes
The disinfecting wipes only need 4 minutes to disinfect your phone, but leave it to air dry for at least 10 minutes if you have the time.
Clean Phone Tip: Step #5 – Wipe down with a microfiber cloth once more
Use a new microfiber cloth to wipe away any leftover moisture.
Clean Phone Tip: Step #6 – Repeat steps two to five with your phone case.
There’s not much benefit to a clean phone if you reinsert it into a dirty phone case.
For silicone cases, submerge and wash them in a mixture of warm water and a little dishwashing liquid. Rinse well and leave it out to dry before reinserting the phone.
Wipe the entire case with the distilled water and alcohol mixture with a microfiber cloth for hard plastic cases. Prepare the liquids in a one-to-one ratio.
With a cotton swab dipped in the water or alcohol solution to clean the small buttons and other small areas of the case. Dry with a clean, microfiber cloth and check that the case is completely dry before reinserting the phone.
Leather cases should be cleaned with a soap specifically formulated for leather and then treated with a leather conditioner. Let the case dry before reinserting the phone.
Things to Remember When Cleaning Your Phone
- Clean your phones twice a week for the best results.
- Wring out the microfiber cloth before using it if it’s too wet.
- Do not get any liquid into your phone’s port.
- Do not apply liquid or cleaner directly to your phone.
- Do not submerge your phone.
It only takes six simple steps to keep your phone clean. Slowly incorporate good cleaning habits into your daily routine, and keep some antimicrobial accessories on hand with you at all times.
Remember that it’s best to be safe than sorry, so be vigilant in keeping a clean phone to limit the spread of germs from your devices.
