CIMB to make SecureTAC authorisation compulsory for all fund transfers

By Timothy Teoh June 28, 2024

In an effort to strengthen online banking security, CIMB has announced that it will make SecureTAC authorisation compulsory for all fund transfers done via CIMB Clicks Online Banking and the CIMB OCTO App. This includes Favourite transactions such as JomPAY, Pay Bills, Top Ups, transfers to own accounts, and more.

CIMB will implement the new security measure starting at the end of June 2024, and will be done in line with the regulatory direction to combat online scams.

Apart from the mandatory SecureTAC authorisation, CIMB will set the default transaction limit for newly registered CIMB Clicks and CIMB OCTO App users to RM5,000. Users can opt to increase the transaction limit via the CIMB OCTO App, but will be subject to a 12-hour cooling-off period.

Additionally, the Transaction Limit function on the older CIMB Clicks app will no longer be available.

CIMB is encouraging users who are still reliant on the CIMB Clicks app to shift to the newer CIMB OCTO app, as it offers a smoother and more holistic banking experience. As of 11 June 2024, the CIMB Clicks app is no longer available for download and has been fully replaced by the CIMB OCTO app.
