Apple debuts M2 Pro and M2 Max in MacBook Pro, M2 now in Mac mini

In their latest launch, Apple introduced two new chips to the M2 generation: the M2 Pro and M2 Max.

The M2 Pro features a 12-core CPU consisting of 8 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores, and a 19-core GPU. This is a crank up from the 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU of the M2.

Similarly, the M2 Max will comprise a 12-core CPU of the same make-up as the M2 Pro, with its major boost coming from the 38-core GPU. Additionally, Apple claims the M2 Max will have 22 hours of battery life, the longest ever on a Mac.

The versatility and power of the two new chips will heighten output particularly in music production, video editing, image editing, and even gaming performance.

Where will we see the M2 Pro and M2 Max?

The M2 Pro and M2 Max will feature in both the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro. The 13-inch MacBook Pro will remain with the M2.

The newly released Mac mini on the other hand will see an upgrade to the M2 and M2 Pro. There is currently no version of the Mac mini with the M2 Max.

At present, both the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini are listed as “currently unavailable” on Apple’s Malaysia website. However, prices are already on display so you can expect both flagship models to arrive to our shores in the coming weeks.
