REDMI A7: 6.88″ display, 120Hz refresh rate and 5200mAh battery for under RM500

Other than the REDMI 17 series, Xiaomi also announced that the REDMI A7 will be coming to Malaysia in September. This entry level smartphone offers not just an accessible price tag but also has several nice-to-have features such as a large screen with a high refresh rate.

REDMI A7 Malaysia pricing and availability

The REDMI A7 will be available from 15 September onwards, from the Xiaomi Malaysia website, their official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop as well as their Xiaomi Stores nationwide. It will come in just a single configuration with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, priced at RM469.

The REDMI A7 comes in Black, Sky Blue and Orchid Purple colourways, with the chassis itself measuring 8.26mm thin and weighing in at 193g. It packs a 6.88-inch LCD display pushing a HD+ resolution, and is capable of an up to 120Hz refresh rate with 70% coverage of the NTSC colour gamut and 450nits of brightness.

Under the hood, the REDMI A7 is powered by a Unisoc T7250 system-on-chip, a 12nm octa-core entry-level mobile processor, mated to 3GB of LPDDR4X memory and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. You’ll also find Android 15 (Go Edition) out of the box.

As for its cameras, there’s a main 13MP, f/2.2 rear camera on the back while up front is an 8MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 5200mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging.

Other features of note include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for 5GHz WiFi connectivity.
