Realme and OnePlus both will move to ColorOS, no more RealmeUI and OxygenOS

Some big changes are happening to Oppo and their sub-brands OnePlus and Realme. Just as expected, OnePlus has announced that it’s quitting the US and Europe, while Realme will be leaving its home market of China to focus on global markets instead.
As part of this shake up, both OnePlus and Realme will be sunsetting their OxygenOS and RealmeUI software. The two will migrate to Oppo’s ColorOS instead, starting from later this year. As for existing devices, at least for Realme we can confirm that they will be migrating eligible models onto ColorOS as well, while those not eligible will still get updates to their RealmeUI in line with their software update policy.

Of course, for those of you who’ve used Realme phones prior to the pandemic, you would know that Realme was actually using ColorOS back in the day, so this switch to ColorOS is actually more of a return.
And as for OnePlus’ OxygenOS, ever since its merger with Oppo’s ColorOS in 2021, the two Android skins have only become more and more alike, with minor aesthetic differences the only real distinctness between them. They remain in Malaysia for now, though rumours continue to persist that they’ll be exiting the rest of the world by next year.
