CES 2022 Day 2: Top 5 Unique Products

January 7, 2022

A brand new day calls for new revelations of smart and innovative technology. Despite not being at CES physically, thorough research (A.K.A intense article readings) have brought me enough knowledge on the latest releases to write about.

The products in this list immediately captured my attention due to its uniqueness – mind you, I’ve been reading a LOT of articles and I’ve seen many items. From the many new releases announced, these 5 stood out like a sore thumb from the other more expected releases, like new gaming laptops or new TVs.

Here is the list of the top 5 truly unique tech products for day 2 of CES 2022 (in no particular order).

1. Sengled Smart Health Monitoring Light Bulb

The Sengled Smart Health Monitoring Light Bulb can measure biometrics.

The name pretty much sums up the purpose of this innovative product; monitors our individual health. Health trackers are common in technology these days, but it’s very rare to find a light bulb that can perform the same function as a smartwatch.

The Smart Health Monitoring Light Bulb has a built-in health monitoring system using radar technology, connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

It claims to be able to get biometric measurements like heart rate, body temperature, and other vital signs through radar sensors.

The light bulb can also track your sleep and even determine if someone has fallen. It does not have a camera or any other recording devices embedded in the product, just a sensor to sense you (or so we were told).

Regardless of how you feel about this innovation, the smart light bulb is still under development and expected to be launched in Q4 of 2022.

2. Samsung Freestyle

The Samsung Freestyle can project solid colours, decorations and even landscapes on to your wall.

The Freestyle is a portable mini projector, weighing in at only 0.83kg. It rests on a 180-degree cradle stand, allowing content to be easily projected onto any wall.

With a 1080p resolution and 360-degree sound, the projector can easily help you create a solo home theatre; just you, your bed, and the movie on the ceiling.

Unlike some projectors, the Freestyle is capable of auto-focus and auto-level, automatically aligning the image to any surface.

For a more customised feel, the translucent lens cap allows for ‘mood lighting’ to be created, fitting into any special occasion that you might have.

Pre-orders for the Freestyle have commenced in the US, but it comes at a hefty price, true to its placement as a Samsung Lifestyle product.

3. BMW IX Flow ft. E Ink

The BMW IX Flow ft. E Ink in the process of changing colours, thus creating this gradient effect.

In hindsight, cars and technology do go very well together, but I certainly was not expecting an unveiling of a car at CES.

This product was largely talked about, and its because it changes colour. With a simple click of a button, the car can go from white to black, vice versa.

How nice would it be to have a simple white car during the day, and a chic black car at night. This could be magic, or it could just be E Ink technology.

Not only does it appeal to aesthetics, but the white colour change also cools the car down on hot days, and the black colour heats the car up on cold days.

Additionally, different parts of the car can be changed, giving you an opportunity to design your very own two-tone car.

Isn’t it just so fascinating? From white to black and black to white with just a click of a button, all thanks to E Ink technology.

4. Cambridge Audio Alva TT V2 Wireless Turntable

This is a true mix of vintage style and modern technology. Users can stream their vinyl wirelessly to wireless headphones or speakers.

Although the aptX HD Bluetooth turntable was launched in 2019, this new release allows for more convenient modern streaming.

If you are unfamiliar with the aptX HD Bluetooth turntable, here is a brief introduction.

It is a Bluetooth-enabled turntable, differing from other Bluetooth-enabled turntables through its ability to support the aptX HD codec. This means that audio can be streamed to wireless speakers or headphones in 48-kHz resolution. Now back to the Alva TT V2.

In terms of sound quality, it offers a high mass or low-resonance static balanced tonearm. It has a detachable headshell if listeners wish to swap the pre-installed Moving Coil cartridge for an upgrade. It also has a switchable phono stage and the option to disable the Bluetooth transmitter.

This is an interesting product to keep a look out for if you are an old soul but rely heavily on technology.

5. Ninu Smart Perfume

The last on the list is yet another “smart” product, and I personally feel that this is more mind-blowing than the smart light bulb.

Firstly, it’s a beauty tech device, something that the market is not very saturated with at the moment.

Secondly, it’s the first of its kind; the very first smart perfume in the world.

The main idea is curating your own personalised fragrance, something that people usually struggle to find in a commercial market.

The ability to customise your fragrance through just a tap on your smartphone makes this product even more unique. Did I mention you can choose from 100 scents to perfectly curate your own fragrance?

Moreover, the perfume bottle is reusable with rechargeable batteries and recyclable cartridges; you only need to purchase the bottle once.

The Ninu Smart Perfume is open for pre-order now but it is also a Kickstarter project, meaning some scepticism will inevitably follow.

End of day 2

It is clear from this list that CES is really a platform where people are not afraid to show what they have, whether the idea may seem out of the ordinary or unrealistic.

The top pick for today would have to be the BMW IX Flow ft. E Ink, just because it was a very innovative way at integrating new technology into a product.
