AMD FSR 4.1 upscaling now available for Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs

A little over a month after AMD promised to bring their FSR 4.1 upscaling to Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, Team Red is finally making good on that claim.
AMD has officially announced that FSR 4.1 is now available to all RDNA 3 desktop graphics cards, bringing the upscaler tech to gamers with these last generation GPUs. Available in over 300 games, FSR 4.1 will be able to deliver higher frame rates while maintaining relatively sharp image quality too.

According to AMD, they’ve had to redesign and optimise FSR 4.1 for RDNA 3 graphics, working to retool their machine learning models to run more efficiently on RDNA 3 graphics cards. The end result is image quality that closely matches what Radeon 9000 series players already experience today.

The biggest gains will be of course when compared to native resolutions, but there’s also some improvements compared to FSR 3.1 and the FSR 4.0.2c community mod.

For those of you keen to try out FSR 4.1 on your Radeon RX 7000 series GPU, you’ll need to update it by getting the latest AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition drivers.
AMD also highlighted that it’s working on lightweight machine learning models to bring FSR 4.1 to RDNA 3 APU gamers. This covers a range of processors with RDNA 3 integrated graphics, such as the Ryzen Z1 Extreme on the original ROG Ally, laptop processors like the Ryzen 7040 and 8040 series as well as Ryzen 8000G APUs. AMD is likely including RDNA 3.5 in this move too, which adds Strix Point and Ryzen Z2 series chips to the mix. As for RDNA 2 GPUs, expect to see FSR 4.1 for it early next year.
