Malaysian wins Xiaomi Imagery Award with the mid-range Xiaomi 14T Pro. Here are the winning shots
The Xiaomi Imagery Awards 2024 Malaysia has wrapped up and we finally have a winner. For those unfamiliar, the Xiaomi Imagery Awards is an annual photography competition hosted by Xiaomi.
The competition encourages creators to celebrate photography, showcasing the possibilities of what can be achieved with the co-engineered Leica cameras on Xiaomi smartphones. Xiaomi and Leica have a long-standing collaboration focused on smartphone camera technology, with Xiaomi’s phones featuring Leica-designed lenses and imaging systems.
The co-engineered Leica cameras aren’t reserved for Xiaomi’s flagship. Notably, Xiaomi’s mid-range T series has also gotten the Leica treatment. The most recent of these is the Xiaomi 14T Series, which was the device used by Chin Woon, the recently announced winner of the Xiaomi Imagery Awards in the Photo Essay category.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro was Chin Woon’s device of choice. His photo essay, titled “The Precision of Nature: Dayak Iban Sarawak” encapsulates the Dayak Iban culture in nine stunning photographs. Chin Woon’s photo essay was later named the best overall, earning him a grand prize of RM10,000.
Chin Woon’s winning moment with the Xiaomi 14T Pro serves as an impressive demonstration of what’s possible when skill is paired with the right equipment – even if the equipment isn’t expensive.
For the record, the Xiaomi 14T Pro starts at RM2,599 – a much more affordable option than many high-priced professional cameras. The Xiaomi 14T, on the other hand, starts at RM1,899.
