Unsurprisingly, ‘leaked’ GTA VI file circulating online is fake, consists of malware
Grand Theft Auto VI is, as expected, the most anticipated video game of this year, perhaps even this decade. And while Rockstar Games has confirmed that it’s only coming out on consoles later this year, that hasn’t stopped a supposed leak of the game appearing online for PC users to download.
Unsurprisingly though, that ‘leaked’ copy of the game is actually malware. An alleged build of the game that was 113GB in size surfaced on torrent sites, and people on social media were quick to post about it. A user on X called for someone to ‘take one for the team’, and another user, @Aidas29506493, did actually download it to check it out.

As it turns out, he found that it’s ‘fully fake and full of viruses’. Other users chipped in and saw that the huge 113GB file is just junk data, literally a bunch of zeros to pad out the file’s size. The malware itself though is a 50KB file that whitelists the entire C:\ drive in Windows Defender and also kills off the user’s security software.
In any case, if you do actually want to get GTA VI when the game drops this 19 November 2026, you can already pre-order it on the PlayStation Store. It’s priced at RM339 for the base game, with Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition priced at RM419 instead.
