Tune Talk hits 1.8m subscribers, offers ‘Zero-Hassle’ mobile number port-in initiative

Tune Talk has announced that it has reached 1.8 million subscribers as of mid-2026, up from less than one million users just a few years ago in 2024. According to the MVNO, its growth is down to their ongoing network upgrades, including the deployment of what it describes as ASEAN’s first cloud-native core network developed in partnership with Nokia.
Alongside the subscriber milestone, Tune Talk has also unveiled a new ‘Zero-Hassle’ mobile number port-in initiative aimed at making it easier for Malaysians to switch from other mobile operators to theirs while keeping their existing phone numbers. Tune Talk stated that its new initiative focuses on helping users avoid these common issues before submitting a port-in request.
While Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has long been available in Malaysia, port-in requests can sometimes fail due to issues such as mismatched registration details, outstanding payments or active contracts.

“Our move to a fully cloud-native network was never just about modernising infrastructure; it was about creating a better, simpler experience for our customers. We understand that switching mobile providers can feel like a big step, especially when people worry about the process, their number, or staying connected.
With Zero-Hassle Mobile Number Port-in, we want to take that worry away and make the journey as clear and reassuring as possible. If Malaysians feel they are ready for something better, moving to Tune Talk should feel easy, supported, and seamless from the start.
We have invested in the network of the future, and now we want to make it easier for more Malaysians to experience it with confidence,” – Gurtaj Singh Padda, Tune Talk CEO and Co-Founder
Here’s how Tune Talk’s ‘Zero-Hassle’ port-in process works:
- Download the Tune Talk app, select the port-in option, complete eKYC verification and choose a physical SIM or eSIM.
- Reply to the confirmation SMS sent by the current mobile provider.
- Continue using the existing SIM until the service is disconnected, then insert the new Tune Talk SIM or activate the eSIM.
Before starting the transfer, users are advised to ensure that they are the registered owner of the line, settle any outstanding bills and confirm that their identification details match their current provider’s records. The telco noted also that users should not experience issues with services tied to their mobile number, including WhatsApp, banking TACs and one-time passwords (OTPs), once the transfer is completed.

On top of that, users who switch to Tune Talk will gain access to its app-based rewards programme, lifestyle benefits and other digital services powered by its cloud-native network infrastructure.
