Tune Talk’s new family safe plan blocks VPNs to keep your kids safe online!
Tune Talk has officially expanded its newly revealed KasiTune campaign with a brand-new prepaid package aimed squarely at protecting tech-savvy kids. The telco has rolled out the Epik+ Family Safe plan, offering hefty data allocations paired with an integrated internet filtering system that ensures children can’t just bypass the rules using a VPN.
Priced at RM80 per month, the base plan covers one parent and one child line (expandable up to three children). It features a shared 700GB of high-speed data boasting an uncapped speed of up to 900Mbps.
Network-Level Security: VPNs Won’t Save Them
Unlike traditional parental control methods that require downloading external monitoring software onto a child’s device, Tune Talk manages this feature directly at the network level. Because the filtering happens at the core network, standard workarounds like Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) will also be blocked, ensuring the safety settings cannot be easily circumvented by tech-literate kids.
Parents can easily configure and toggle access directly within the standard Tune Talk mobile app. The system features three distinct tiers of internet filtering:
- Low Protection: Allows standard web browsing and social media, but automatically restricts adult content and flagged malicious sites.
- Medium Protection: Blocks social media platforms and uncategorized web pages entirely, while leaving email and basic browsing open.
- High Protection: Restricts internet access strictly to a pre-approved list of kid-friendly portals, such as government and educational sites.
“Our new mobile plan is built for children who deserve a safer digital space,” said Tune Talk Chief Executive Officer Gurtaj Singh Padda.
Plan Breakdown & Alternative Epik+ Options
Beyond content filtering, the RM80 Family Safe tier packs in additional value-added benefits, including unlimited network calls, Personal Accident (PA) insurance coverage and e-roaming.
For solo users who do not require parental filters, Tune Talk has also introduced cheaper individual options under the same KasiTune lineup:
