TikTok Shop sellers will start paying 6% SST on shipping fees from 7 September

TikTok Shop sellers in Malaysia have a small new cost heading their way. From 1 September 2026, TikTok Shop is switching its Malaysia logistics entity from Tokgistics Pte Ltd to TikTok Shop (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a change that will see a 6% Service Tax (SST) applied to shipping fees on the platform.

To be clear on how it works, TikTok Shop says it hasn’t raised its Seller Shipping Fee. Instead, the 6% SST is added on top of the Actual Shipping Fee, so a RM3 shipping fee becomes RM3.18 once the tax is applied.

Although the SST technically takes effect from 1 September, TikTok Shop will absorb it on sellers’ behalf for orders created between 1 and 6 September, meaning the cost will only be passed on to sellers from 7 September. The tax is also based on when an order is created rather than when it’s delivered, so orders created by 31 August won’t be affected even if they’re delivered in September.

Beyond standard deliveries, the tax also reaches a little further than you might expect. It covers applicable logistics services across delivery, distribution and transport through TikTok Shop, and it can apply to both the Forward Shipping Fee and the Return Shipping Fee on unsuccessful orders.

For sellers, this also adds to a growing list of platform costs. Back in February, TikTok Shop rolled out a RM0.50 Platform Support Fee on every successfully delivered order, so the incoming SST is another line to keep an eye on when working out your margins.

For anyone who only shops on TikTok Shop rather than sells, though, there’s no need to worry. The change doesn’t add a separate 6% SST line to your checkout, as TikTok Shop has framed it as applying to sellers’ shipping costs and hasn’t said buyers will be charged the tax directly under this update.
