Sony WH-1000XM6 Officially Launched in Malaysia: Foldable Design Returns with Enhanced Noise Cancelling
Sony has officially launched its latest flagship wireless headphones, the WH-1000XM6, in Malaysia. Coming three years after the highly acclaimed WH-1000XM5, the new model delivers an impressive mix of refined design, upgraded hardware, and smart noise-cancelling features, positioning itself as a top contender in the premium headphone market in 2025.
Sony WH-1000XM6: Foldable Design is Back
One of the most notable updates with the Sony WH-1000XM6 is the return of the foldable design, a feature that many long-time Sony headphone fans will appreciate. This design not only improves portability but also makes it easier to stow away the headphones during travel or daily commutes.
The carrying case has also been redesigned, now featuring magnetic latches for a cleaner, more minimalist look while still keeping the headphones secure.
Under the hood, the WH-1000XM6 features 30mm Neodymium dynamic drivers, similar to the previous generation, but fine-tuned for better handling of Sound Pressure Levels (SPL). These drivers work in tandem with Sony’s latest QN3 HD Noise Cancelling Processor and the Adaptive Noise Cancelling Optimiser, offering even better real-time noise cancellation across different environments.
More Microphones, Smarter Noise Control
The WH-1000XM6 also introduces a significant hardware upgrade with a total of 12 built-in microphones, up from 8 in the WH-1000XM5. This results in enhanced voice clarity for calls and improved environmental noise detection, allowing the Adaptive NC Optimiser to perform more accurately than ever before.
Despite the hardware upgrades, Sony maintains the impressive battery life users have come to expect. The WH-1000XM6 offers:
- Up to 30 hours of playback with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) enabled
- Up to 40 hours with ANC turned off
These figures ensure the headphones can easily support long listening sessions or multiple days of casual use on a single charge.
Pricing and Availability
Sony Malaysia is now accepting preorders for the WH-1000XM6, which run from today until 8 June 2025 via the official Sony product page. The headphones are priced at RM2,099 and will be available in three colour options:
- Black
- Platinum Silver
- Midnight Blue
Units are expected to ship and arrive in mid-June 2025.
