Snapdragon C details revealed: Up to 67% faster than Intel N250 with 2x battery life
Back in late May, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon C platform, an entry-level processor targeting ultra budget laptops around the USD300 or sub-RM1,500 mark. We never really got much else in terms of detailed specs, but we’ve since heard a little bit more from Qualcomm about it.
In a Snapdragon C platform overview presentation, Qualcomm revealed that the entry level processor will feature an 8-core Kryo CPU, with single core boost clocks of up to 3GHz, tri-core boost speeds up to 2.6GHz and sustained frequency of 2GHz. This appears to be similar to the Prime/Performance/Efficiency layout their mobile Snapdragon platforms used to have back in the day.
Other than that, they’ve also revealed that there will be an integrated Adreno GPU running at 900MHz, as well as a Hexagon NPU for basic AI tools. There’s also a Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 for up to Bluetooth 6.0 and WiFi 6E connectivity, on top of support for up to USB 3.1.
As for performance, Qualcomm showcased that it’s up to 67% faster than the Intel N250 in multithreaded Cinebench tests, and up to 50% faster in single threaded benchmarks. Curiously though they only showcased performance benchmarks done on battery, and didn’t revealed scores done while plugged in. Speaking of which, Qualcomm also claims that the Snapdragon C platform will offer 2x better power efficiency than the Intel N250, delivering up to all-day battery life.
You can expect to see laptops powered by these Snapdragon C laptops from the likes of HP, Acer, Lenovo and Asus by the end of the year.
