Several banks alert customers to DuitNow service disruption on 18 August

Here’s a heads-up for anyone who relies on DuitNow for their day-to-day payments. A number of banks have issued notices that DuitNow services will be temporarily unavailable on 18 August, from 2am to 6am, due to scheduled system maintenance. So, if you have any important transactions to make, it may be worth getting them done before the maintenance window begins.

Among the banks that have published notices are Maybank, Public Bank, OCBC, HSBC, Bank Islam and Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia. During the four-hour maintenance period, several DuitNow functions will be unavailable, including:

  • DuitNow Transfer
  • DuitNow QR
  • DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets (DOBW)
  • DuitNow AutoDebit
  • DuitNow Request
  • DuitNow Cross Border

You may not be able to make certain instant transfers or scan DuitNow QR codes during the maintenance window. However, some banks have recommended alternative transfer methods. Maybank says customers can continue making and receiving transfers through Interbank GIRO (IBG), while OCBC similarly recommends using IBG for transfers to other banks during the downtime.
