Samsung TVs will be getting HDR10+ Advanced streaming on Prime Video soon

Samsung has announced that HDR10+ Advanced will debut on Prime Video with supported titles starting this month. The feature will first be available on Samsung’s 2026 TV models, with HDR10+ Advanced bringing two new features aimed at improving HDR picture quality: enhanced overall brightness and intelligent motion smoothing.
Starting with the first new feature, enhanced overall brightness uses additional metadata to make better use of a TV’s brightness capabilities. Samsung claims it’ll be able to deliver brighter HDR across the full tonal range, while AI-based tone mapping helps retain details in darker scenes.
For sports and action content meanwhile, intelligent motion smoothing uses scene-by-scene metadata to adjust motion processing automatically. This is intended to keep movies looking cinematic while providing smoother motion in fast-moving scenes.

Samsung says HDR10+ Advanced is designed for newer TVs with larger screens, higher peak brightness, greater colour depth and more processing power. It also aims to preserve the creator’s intended picture on compatible displays.
Prime Video previously became the first streaming service to support HDR10+ when it launched the format on Samsung’s 2017 UHD TVs in December 2017. Since then, HDR10+ has expanded to 183 adopter companies with over 22,000 certified products.
As mentioned earlier, HDR10+ Advanced will be supported on Samsung’s 2026 TV lineup first, with the company adding that support will expand to future products as the HDR10+ ecosystem grows. For Prime Video users, the new format will only work when the title, TV and other playback equipment come with support for HDR10+ Advanced.
