On top of the headline-grabbing REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, Xiaomi Malaysia has also announced the younger sibling REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G. This is essentially a rebadge of the Poco X8—or maybe the X8 is a rebadge of the Note 17 Pro 5G—with largely the same key specs all around.

REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G Malaysia pricing and avaiability

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is available with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM1,599, while for RM1,899 you’ll get 512GB of storage instead. A separate online exclusive model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage also exists, priced at RM1,399, priced at RM1,299 during the early bird promo.

Available from the Xiaomi Malaysia website as well as their official store on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, if you do get one before the end of the month you’ll also get a free pair of REDMI Headphones Neo, 5 years of battery warranty, 3 years screen protection, 2 years liquid damage protection, 2 years back cover warranty, 2 years quality warranty, 2 months of YouTube Premium and 6 months of Google One.

REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G specs

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, pushing a 2772 x 1280 resolution with an up to 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 3500nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 over it too for scratch resistance.

Powering the REDMI Note 17 Pro is the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 system-on-chip, with the 4nm midrange mobile platform mated to up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It also comes with Android 16 out of the box, skinned with HyperOS 3 over it.

On the back of the device you’ll find a dual camera setup, housing a main 50MP, f/1.8 camera flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter, with a 16MP, f/2.4 selfie shooter up front.

Keeping the lights on is an 8340mAh battery that Xiaomi says is good for over 2 days of use, with support for 67W HyperCharge fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging too. Other features of note include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers capable of a 300% boost and an IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance rating.
