Poco X8 Malaysia: Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 6.83″ display and 8340mAh battery, from RM1,499
Poco, the Xiaomi sub-brand, has announced a couple of new devices in Malaysia starting with the Poco X8. The latest sibling of the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, this midrange device packs a large battery and large display, while still being relatively affordable for most seeking a value-for-money smartphone.
Poco X8 Malaysia pricing and availability
The Poco X8 will be available in Malaysia from 9 September onwards, with the base model packing 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage priced at RM1,499, while for RM1,699 you get 12GB of RAM instead.
As part of its launch, you can also snag a limited time RM200 discount from the Xiaomi Malaysia website as well as the official Poco store on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, bringing down the starting price to RM1,299.
Poco X8 specs
Available in white, black and orange colourways, the Poco X8 features a segmented patten design on the back panel, while the whole device measures 8.6mm thin and 223g light. It houses a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, pushing a 2772 x 1280 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 3500nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. There’s also a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 over it for scratch resistance.
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 system-on-chip, a 4nm midrange processor mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR4X memory and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It comes with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box, skinned over Android 16, along with Google Gemini and Circle to Search.
In the camera department, the Poco X8 features a 50MP, f/1.8 rear camera with optical image stabilisation, flanked by a 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. Up front meanwhile is a 16MP selfie shooter.
Xiaomi claims ‘beyond 2-days of battery life’ on the Poco X8, thanks in large part to the massive 8340mAh silicon-carbon battery. It also supports 67W wired HyperCharge fast charging, as well as 22.5W wired reverse charging.
Other features of note include an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with 300% volume boost, IP66/68/69/69K dust and water resistance rating as well as NFC and Xiaomi Offline Communication support.
