REDMI 17 spotted on Shopee ahead of launch tonight

Ahead of its official launch tonight, the REDMI 17 has already surfaced on the Xiaomi Official Store on Shopee, in both 4G and 5G flavours. The pair had made the rounds through SIRIM over the past month, the 5G model first, followed by the 4G version at the tail end, and both are now listed and ready to buy, with the 5G variant even offered in two storage options.

There are three configurations to choose from in total, though all of them are capped at 4GB of RAM. The REDMI 17 4G comes in a single 4GB + 128GB trim priced at RM699, while the REDMI 17 5G is offered in a 4GB + 128GB version at RM799 and a 4GB + 256GB version at RM899. All three are available via the Xiaomi Official Store on Shopee.

REDMI 17 specs and features

The two REDMI 17 variants have plenty in common. Each one carries a 6.9-inch panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, topped with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i to guard against knocks and scratches. Keeping the lights on is a 7,500mAh battery on both models, rated for 45W wired charging while also doubling as a 22.5W reverse charger for topping up other devices.

Imaging is handled by a 50MP AI dual-camera system on the back, consisting of a 50MP, f/1.8 main shooter paired with an auxiliary sensor, while an 8MP, f/2.05 camera up front takes care of selfies. Rounding things out is a Dynamic RGB Light ring around the cameras that doubles as a flash and lights up in different colours for notifications, alongside a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI Face Unlock.

The main difference between the two lies under the hood. The REDMI 17 4G runs on a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra and throws in a 3.5mm headphone jack, whereas the REDMI 17 5G steps up to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, adds NFC, and gains Xiaomi HyperIsland, a feature that surfaces notifications around the front camera, though it’s currently available only with select apps and settings.

Colour options can also be used to tell the two apart. Both share a black colourway, but the 4G model adds Green and Purple, while the 5G model comes in Orange and Blue instead.
