Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2: This 12.1″ tablet comes with 9-unit JBL speaker, priced at RM2,099

Lenovo has announced their latest tablet in Malaysia, the Tab Plus Gen 2. This new tablet has some pretty unique features, as apart from being a large slate it also comes with a massive speaker on the back that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker.

The massive bump on the back of the Tab Plus Gen 2 is thanks to a large JBL 9-unit speaker system tuned with Dolby Atmos. On top of the two tweeters on either side of the tablet, the back also has a 43cc speaker box housing another three woofers and two passive radiators. Lenovo claims 48W loud stereo sound with fuller, deeper bass that can fill up the whole room. You can even use it as a standalone Bluetooth speaker if you wish, while a built-in kickstand ring lets you prop it up to watch your content easily.

As for the rest of the tablet, it’s a pretty standard Android slate by all accounts. You’ll find a 12.1-inch LCD display pushing a 2560 by 1600p resolution in a 16:10 aspect ratio, with 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 800nits of brightness in high brightness mode.

Under the hood, you’ll find a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 system-on-chip, mated to up to 12GB of memory and up to 256GB of storage, though its base model will come with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage instead; expandable storage of up to 2TB via microSD is also supported. The Tab Plus Gen 2 comes with Android 16 out of the box, and Lenovo guarantees at least two major OS upgrades and four years of security patches.

Other features of note include a 13MP rear camera, a 8MP selfie shooter, a USB-C 2.0 charging and audio port as well as a 10,200mAh battery keeping the lights on with support for 45W fast charging. You can also get optional accessories for the Tab Plus Gen 2, such as a stylus or a carrying case.

If you feel like getting your hands on this rather unique tablet, you’ll need to wait till September as the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 will only be coming to Lenovo Exclusive Stores by then, with a starting price of RM2,099.
