Grab reportedly ends fixed RM65 fare for bookings to and from KLIA

If you’re a frequent flier based in Klang Valley, you’re probably used to paying the fixed RM65 Grab fare for rides to and from KLIA. However, it seems that Grab has now ended the fixed fare structure for rides to and from KLIA.

As spotted by Amanz, Grab driver partners began receiving a notice from Grab that they have updated the fare structure for KLIA bookings, and that there will no longer be a flat fare for KLIA rides from 11 May onwards. In its place is a dynamic fare structure which is determined by both the distance and the time taken to complete the journey.

That of course doesn’t include the toll fares that you will undoubtedly pay as well when you’re heading to KLIA. We’ve since checked the fare for going to KLIA and true enough, there’s no longer a fixed fare anymore. After trying out a few different pickup spots, the cheapest we got was RM68, while the highest was RM82 after surge pricing. We’ve also seen one user claim that they paid RM101 to go from KLIA to Bamboo Hills right after the dynamic pricing system was implemented.

For what it’s worth, there’s been a number of Grab drivers on Facebook groups sharing their unhappiness with the new dynamic earnings system already as it seems they’re actually earning less now than before. Grab however have not issued a public statement regarding the new dynamic pricing system for rides to and from KLIA at time of writing.
