No more inDrive or Maxim? Don’t worry—These e-Hailing apps have you covered

In case you missed it, two e-hailing services operating in Malaysia – inDrive and Maxim – have been ordered to cease operations after being found to have violated licensing conditions under the Land Public Transport Act 2010. According to reports, the e-hailing services had failed to provide all their vehicles with a valid E-Hailing Vehicle Permit (EVP).
Following this, Transport Minister Anthony Loke ordered both companies to halt operations in Malaysia effective July 24.
With two e-hailing services about to be chalked off the roster, it seems Grab is back to being the main favourite. However, did you know there are 30 licensed e-hailing services operating in Malaysia? Here are a few that you can consider.
1) Bolt

Despite running globally since 2013, Bolt only set foot in Malaysia in late 2024. Base prices are as competitive as Grab’s, but Bolt, being a new player, still offers generous discounts to users possibly as an initial strategy to capture the market.
Customers can choose from Bolt’s standard ride, Comfort, XL (6-person), or Premium ride options.
2) LalaMove Ride

That’s right, the well-known courier service has kicked things up a notch with its very own e-hailing service. The service is accessible via the same LalaMove app you use for courier delivery, so there’s no need to download an additional app.
At of now, the app still offers only one type of ride: the standard 4-passenger option.
3) AirAsia Move

If you need to travel to and from the airport, AirAsia Move is your best bet. Rates for airport transfers tend to be cheaper here, and you can even pre-book your ride days in advance to make planning easier.
AirAsia Move’s airport transfers are available in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand. You get a selection of rides, including Anyride (4 pax), Compact (3 pax), Xtra (6 pax), and Xtra Premium (6 pax).
4) MyCar

You can’t neglect the local players in the scene, and this includes MyCar. MyCar was founded in 2018 and has already ferried more than 1 million passengers.
They focus solely on e-hailing services, with no frills like grocery or food delivery, which makes the app easy to navigate. MyCar offers three types of rides: Economy, Premium, and MPV Premium.
