CMF Phone 2 Pro: NFC, triple cameras, interchangeable lenses – Priced at RM1,199

CMF by Nothing has just launched the CMF Phone 2 Pro, the brand’s second smartphone in their portfolio after the CMF Phone 1. If you’re wondering, CMF did not mention anything about a CMF Phone 2, and so the existence of a non-Pro base model is still up in the air.
Turning our focus back to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, the new reiteration maintains the modular concept of the CMF Phone 1 that allows for interchangeable back panels. This includes a universal cover that serves as a magnetic adapter for accessories.

Akis Evangelidis, the co-founder of Nothing, said during his keynote, “CMF Phone 2 Pro maintains the modular design with the range of accessories that are either screwed directly onto the phone, or attached [via] the new universal cover.”
On that note, an interesting addition to the range of CMF Phone-compatible accessories includes interchangeable macro and fisheye lenses that can be attached to modify the built-in camera. Other than that, there’s also a new cardholder which doubles as a stand, and a lanyard – all of which are sold separately.

It’s also worth mentioning that CMF has successfully reduced the thickness of the Phone 2 Pro to just 7.8mm, a sizable difference from the 8.2mm heft of the Phone 1.
Following that, there are a few notable upgrades in hardware. One of them being the new 6.77″ display which now utilizes a Flexible AMOLED panel instead of last year’s rigid AMOLED type. According to CMF, this allows for a few improvements, including symmetrical bezels and enhanced durability. The CMF Phone 2 Pro offers FHD+ resolution (1080×2392) and 3,000nits peak brightness.

For photography, the CMF Phone 2 Pro sports a triple camera setup headlined by a 50MP main sensor backed by a 1/1.57″ sensor. This is a similar make-up to the Nothing Phone (3a), however, the CMF model does not have OIS support, relying only on EIS. Flanking the main sensor is a 50MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom, as well as an 8MP ultra-wide. At the front is a 16MP front shooter.
Meanwhile, powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip which allows for 5G connectivity. The CMF Phone 2 Pro now includes NFC, effectively addressing a key shortcoming of its predecessor. As for the battery, it retains a 5,000mAh capacity with support for 33W wired charging.

Since both Nothing and CMF phones are rooted in the same Nothing OS ecosystem, the CMF Phone 2 Pro does have the new Essential Key that grants direct access to Essential Space.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro ships with Android 15 out of the box, and CMF has promised 3 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates for the device.

The CMF Phone 2 Pro is available in three colours: Orange, White, and Black. In Malaysia, the CMF Phone 2 Pro comes in a single 8GB/256GB variant which will retail at RM1,199.
