Cermat Madani offers up to 10% extra insurance rebate for MyJPJ renewals

By Alyaa Najwa June 11, 2026

The government has introduced Cermat Madani, a new initiative that gives motorists an extra rebate of up to 10% when renewing their motor insurance through the MyJPJ app. For many drivers, this could be one of the few opportunities to save a little more on annual vehicle ownership costs, especially if they already qualify for a high No Claim Discount (NCD).

The additional rebate is offered on top of the existing NCD. For example, motorists who already enjoy the maximum 55% NCD could potentially receive a total discount of up to 65%. During the programme’s introductory period, from 9 June until 9 September 2026, all motorists who renew their insurance through MyJPJ will automatically receive the additional rebate, regardless of their driving history.

After the introductory period, the rebate will be based on a driver’s record. Starting 10 September 2026, an AI-powered risk assessment system will use data from the MySikap database, including JPJ and police records such as traffic summonses and accident history. This means your driving habits could eventually influence how much you save on motor insurance.

There is no fixed number of summonses that automatically disqualifies someone from receiving the rebate. Each participating insurance company will determine the level of discount based on its own risk assessment. At launch, 10 insurance companies have joined the programme.

For now, only records from JPJ and PDRM are considered, while local council summonses are excluded. So if your insurance renewal is coming up soon, it may be worth checking whether renewing through MyJPJ could help you save a little extra this year.
