YouTube wraps up Creators for Impact as six Malaysian creators tackle screen time and digital safety

YouTube has wrapped up its first Creators for Impact programme in Malaysia, which saw six local creators produce videos to help families stay safe online and build healthier habits with their devices. The programme’s closing event was attended by Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
Kicking off in July, the three-month programme brought together A Lad and a Dad, Aqil Zulkiflee, Fourfeetnine, FU LOVE, Im_siowei and JE Pong. Throughout the programme, the creators made videos about the everyday digital struggles faced by parents and kids, from managing screen time and setting up parental controls to having a healthier relationship with technology in general.

Rather than going down the usual lecture route, each creator tackled the topic in their own style. A Lad and a Dad, for example, showed how his family uses Google Family Link and YouTube Kids to guide his children towards using their devices more responsibly. FU LOVE took a similar hands-on approach, demonstrating how features such as daily limits can help families set healthier routines.
Meanwhile, Aqil Zulkiflee turned it into a family challenge, swapping YouTube Kids screen time for an offline activity that the whole family could do together. Fourfeetnine handed the mic over to her own children instead, asking them candid questions about social media, how people behave online and whether kids actually feel comfortable telling their parents when something goes wrong.
Some creators found more creative ways to get the message across. Im_siowei used her signature short-form storytelling to explore screen-time boundaries, while JE Pong worked the topic into her gender reveal vlog, using it to highlight YouTube Kids and the parental tools available on the platform.

On top of that, Google also runs Be Internet Awesome, a free programme that teaches kids how to explore the internet safely. It covers five key lessons: sharing carefully, spotting scams and fake content, protecting their passwords, being kind online and speaking up to a trusted adult when something doesn’t feel right. Kids can learn these lessons through Interland, a free browser-based game, or Be Internet Awesome World on Roblox, an interactive gaming experience that brings the same online safety lessons to life.
