YouTube will stop sending notifications if you ignore them, but only on mobile

YouTube has announced a change to how notifications work on its mobile app. Going forward, the platform will stop sending notifications from certain channels if users consistently do not interact with those notifications or fail to watch videos published by those channels.
According to YouTube, there are situations where users may accidentally enable notifications for a channel, or enable them simply to support a creator. However, YouTube says that most of their users don’t actually care about the new video notifications. Over time, this can lead to excessive notifications that users simply ignore.
With this new change, YouTube aims to reduce notification fatigue by automatically limiting notifications from channels that users appear to have lost interest in.
The company clarified that this change only affects the mobile app experience. Users will still be able to view all notifications through YouTube web. However, if you like getting these notifications and often click on them to watch a new video from a YouTube you like, there’ll be no changes to how notifications are delivered to your phone.
