Xbox brings back the translucent green console to celebrate its 25th anniversary

By Raymond Saw June 8, 2026

The original Xbox console first debuted way back in November 2001, and as we approach its 25th anniversary Xbox has announced a special Xbox 25th anniversary collection.

Heavily inspired by the original Xbox’s translucent green design, the new anniversary edition console is a modern Xbox Series X with the same green plastic shell, bringing it straight back to the early 00s.

This Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition as they’re calling it comes with the same kind of hardware found in the regular Xbox Series X, complete with 1TB of storage. Another cool feature is that the iconic Xbox ‘X’ logo lights up in green too, another nod to the original Xbox boot up, along with the Xbox 25th anniversary logo on the front.

If you’re an Xbox fan but you don’t necessarily want or need a new Xbox console, you can also check out the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition. Just like the Xbox Series X25, this Wireless Controller X25 comes in translucent green too, showing off the internals of the controller. You’ll find the original ABXY buttons on it as well as black and white bumpers, just like the OG Duke controller.

The Xbox Series X25 and Xbox Wireless Controller X25 will be coming to select markets as limited edition collections in November onwards. While it’s pretty unlikely Malaysia will get the console, there’s a chance that the limited edition Wireless Controller X25 will be coming to our shores. That being said, no details on pricing or preorder details just yet at time of writing.
