Android 12: Whatsapp users are now able to transfer chats from iPhone to Android

December 19, 2021

With the Android 12, WhatsApp users are now able to transfer chats from iPhone to Android. With that, you no longer have to worry about losing your valuable text messages with your significant other as you switch phones. Check out our guide that will help you transfer all your WhatsApp data from your iPhone to an Android.

Transfer via USB-C Cable

The highly anticipated Android 12 features a more personalised user interface, new privacy features, and other exciting changes. It will be coming to devices like Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi and other models later this year.

With just a USB cable, Google has made it easier to migrate your chat history from iPhone to your new Android smartphone. What’s more, when you connect both phones, the latest update allows your Android device to install the apps on your iPhone from Google Play Store.

Using a USB-C to Lightning cable, connect it to both devices. Then, you’ll receive a prompt while setting up your Android device. After scanning the QR code on the iPhone to launch Whatsapp, you can move your chat history to your Android device.

Unable to scan the QR code? Alternatively, you manually transfer by going to Settings in WhatsApp > Chats > Move Chats to Android.

Manual WhatsApp Backup

For this method, it’s relatively straightforward:

  • Since data loss is WhatsApp’s most commonly occurring issue, you should back up your WhatsApp messages on your old device.
  • On your Apple device, go to “Settings” on WhatsApp and select “Chat Backup”. Here, you can view the latest backup or manually back up your WhatsApp messages by clicking the “Back Up Now” option.
  • Uninstall WhatsApp from your iPhone.
  • Install WhatsApp on your new Android and register your original phone number. A prompt will pop out informing you, “Message backup found”. Click “Restore” to transfer the WhatsApp messages from the iPhone to your new Android.

The search engine giant said that its team had worked closely with WhatsApp to ensure the data remained protected throughout the transfer process for people worried about their data security.

Conclusion

Over time, there will be much simpler and innovative ways to transfer data safely. It is only a matter of time until we can do it with a click of a button. With the new and upcoming Android 12 features around the corner, be sure to check out PriceShop for your next personal mobile choice.
