VITURE Luma Ultra XR Glasses – a tech companion that truly makes you feel like it’s 2034, today

By Joshua LIN April 14, 2026

Forget the bulky headsets and the sci-fi aesthetic that screams “I’m wearing a computer on my face.” The VITURE Luma Ultra takes a refreshingly different approach — one that looks and feels like a regular pair of sunglasses, yet quietly transforms how you consume content at home and work on the go.

Probably the most portable tech companion for work and play.

I was kindly loaned a unit to review by DirectD, one of the official resellers for the VITURE Luma Ultra here in Malaysia, where the brand is distributed by Wantjoin Sdn Bhd — a team with strong management and marketing backing that signals this isn’t just another fly-by-night gadget import.

Fit and connectivity

The first thing that I noticed was the fit. Compared to chunky wearables like the Apple Vision Pro — (which production has since been put on hold due to low demand) — the VITURE Luma Ultra wears like a normal pair of sunglasses.

It’s lightweight (~85.8g), sits comfortably for extended periods, and doesn’t draw stares on the train or plane. The adjustable nose pads and myopic control (supporting moderate myopia users up to -4.0D) mean it genuinely accommodates a wide range of users right out of the box.

Connectivity is refreshingly fuss-free. The magnetic cable handles both power and display output, and pairing with USB-C devices is plug-and-play — no app setup, no pairing rituals.

Devices that it can connect with seamlessly include iPhone 15 models onwards, gaming handhelds like the ROG ALLY X, STEAM Deck, iPads, Android Phones with display port output, and laptops such as Macbook.

Magnetic cable connector makes it super user friendly

A dark and light electro-chromatic lens toggle (R1) lets users adapt to their environment to choose between a more immersive experience or towards more awareness of their surroundings. Because the glasses are essentially powering a small external screen, battery drain on the source device stays impressively low — generally I observed a 10–20% dip on total runtime depending on brightness and volume.

Use Cases for VITURE Luma AR/XR Glasses

Where the VITURE Luma genuinely shines is media. Watching movies or gaming with what feels like a personal big 152 inch 120Hz refresh rate virtual screen — wherever you are — is a legitimately great experience. The Ultra model comes with Harman speakers at the side and has been designed to minimize sound leakage so that people sitting nearby are not disturbed.

Gaming and media is a huge use-case for VITURE Luma users

As my current house does not have a TV, the VITURE Luma virtual screen was a significant upgrade to my current iPad Air and ROG Ally X physical screens. I thoroughly enjoyed the immersive experience playing on my sofa and also from the comfort of my bed.

Productivity is a secondary strength, though business people on-the-go will appreciate being able to pull up spreadsheets, reports, or dashboards on the go. I can totally visualize a ultra minimalist remote worker connecting to their Samsung phones and accessing Samsung DEX and work with a portable bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

I personally tried it with my Macbook and used it as a virtual external screen and it made my spreadsheet work more enjoyable with a bigger real estate compared to the 14″ that I have on my laptop. The pixels on screen were super sharp at 1920×1280 resolution.

Beyond the 2 use cases above, here are a few more potential users who may want to consider the VITURE Luma range – frequent travellers wanting a private cinema while waiting for their flights or trains, solo room renters without a TV, remote workers who do not want to carry a heavy portable monitor to cafes, or anyone who’s does not want to negotiate for screen time with the family.

The VITURE Luma Range: Something for Everyone

The Luma series currently spans three tiers, each stepping up meaningfully in capability.

The base Luma, priced at RM1,999 or USD 399 , features 1200p resolution, a 50° field of view, and 1000 nits of brightness — a solid entry point for users who primarily want a great private screen for media and light productivity. It also boasts an impressively accessible myopia adjustment range of up to -6.0D, making it the most accommodating in the lineup for glasses wearers.

Step up to the Luma Pro at RM2,499 or USD 499, and you gain a larger 152″ virtual screen, a wider 52° field of view, and industry-first customisable RGB lighting effects — a touch that makes it feel as much a style statement as a tech device. It combines the latest Sony displays with HARMAN audio for a 50% sharper and fuller-sounding experience than the previous VITURE Pro generation, and comes in two frame sizes (Regular and Large) for a better fit across different face shapes.

At the top sits the Luma Ultra, designed for power users and industry professionals. This is where the range gets genuinely exciting from a technology standpoint. It features a triple-camera system — a front-facing RGB camera and dual grayscale depth cameras — enabling full 6 Degrees of Freedom tracking and hand gesture recognition, essentially turning the glasses into a spatial computing device when paired with the Pro Neckband.

Notably, it is the first device of its kind to include a proprietary chip that handles all 6DoF calculations directly on the glasses themselves, removing the reliance on external processing that typically bogs down competing products. It also supports 3D viewing, allowing for a more immersive experience.

Pricing: May seem steep at first glance, but Worth Contextualising

At RM2,899 (USD 599) for the Luma Ultra, this is not an impulse purchase — and it’s worth being upfront about that. For many Malaysians, that sits in the bracket of a mid-range laptop or a premium smartphone upgrade, so it demands some justification.

Here’s my take though: what you’re paying for isn’t just a screen strapped to a frame. For a tech geek like me, there is a whole load of remarkable technology to miniaturise each part and putting it together without making it feel like a burden to wear.

Inside that slim, wearable form factor sits Sony Micro-OLED panels, HARMAN-tuned audio, electrochromic lenses, spatial computing hardware, and engineering refined enough to sit comfortably on your face for hours. The Luma Ultra is widely regarded as one of the best AR glasses with a display that money can currently buy at this price point.

Put it next to the Apple Vision Pro — which launched at USD 3,499 and has since been stopped production — and the Luma Ultra’s USD 599 starts to look quite reasonable. If the entry-level Luma at RM1,999 (USD 399) suits your needs, the value proposition can become even more compelling.

VITURE was founded by former Google and Apple employees, and by Q4 2024 had captured 52% of the US XR smartglasses market — a market share figure that speaks to both product quality and pricing discipline. This isn’t a startup shooting in the dark; to me, it is a serious company that has clearly done the engineering legwork to justify what it charges.

Hopes for future versions and conclusion

A couple of my personal wishes for future versions — a more versatile accessories bundle for connecting to a wider range of gaming devices out of the standard box such as Switch, Xbox and Playstation, and improved onboard audio (or better integration with earphones) would round out the experience nicely.

As far as AR glasses go, this is the best that I have used so far in terms of performance and comfort and I believe that the VITURE Luma makes a compelling case for itself not by trying to replace your reality, but by enhancing it without making you and users around you feel uncomfortable.

Where to buy? The range of VITURE Luma glasses and accessories are available at DirectD in Malaysia which comes with local warranty and support.
