Vircle brings DuitNow QR payments to kids with parental controls

By Alyaa Najwa October 1, 2026

Vircle has introduced a new Scan & Pay for Kids feature, giving children a way to use their pocket money at shops that accept DuitNow QR. Available through the Vircle app, the feature also gives parents visibility over their children’s spending.

For those unfamiliar, Vircle is a Malaysian fintech app that lets parents send pocket money to their children digitally. It has been around since 2020 and is currently used in more than 100 schools across Malaysia, serving around 200,000 parents and students. The service is offered in partnership with Fass Payment Solutions Sdn Bhd (Fasspay), a licensed e-money and Visa prepaid card issuer.

To get started, parents will need to enable Child Login from their own Vircle app. Once that’s done, kids can simply scan the DuitNow QR code at any participating merchant to make a payment, with Vircle saying the process takes about three seconds.

As for parental controls, parents can set daily spending limits for their child, and these can even be customised by day of the week. You’ll also get real-time notifications every time your child makes a payment, and you can freeze their account from your phone at any time if needed. On top of that, money can be transferred between parent and child accounts, as well as between verified child accounts.

The Scan & Pay feature itself is free to use. Parents can top up their Vircle account via FPX online banking, DuitNow transfer, Wise or Malaysian-issued Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. Do note, though, that credit card top-ups will come with a 1% convenience fee starting 15 October 2026.

Apart from DuitNow QR, kids can also pay using Vircle’s school card at canteens and school stores, as well as a parent-controlled Visa prepaid card that works at Visa merchants worldwide.

To mark the launch, Vircle is also running a promotion until 31 October 2026, with 150 prizes worth a total of RM10,000 to be won. There’s no need to register, as each payment made counts as one entry, though each account can only win once.
