U Mobile launches Ultra Home 5G Pro, up to 2Gbps speeds, from RM98/month

U Mobile has launched Ultra Home 5G Pro, a new 5G home broadband service offering speeds of up to 2Gbps from RM98/month. Powered by U Mobile’s 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, the service uses 8×8 MIMO technology, which U Mobile claims can deliver speeds up to twice as fast as conventional 4×4 MIMO 5G home broadband.

There are two plans under Ultra Home 5G Pro, but both offer the same key features of a 2,000GB fair usage policy (FUP) quota with claimed speeds of up to 2Gbps. It starts at RM98/month for the Ultra Home 5G Pro Unlimited Home WiFi, rising to RM128/month for the Ultra Home 5G Pro x Sooka Premium which adds a Sooka Premium subscription for 3 devices. Once you hit that 2,000GB FUP quota, your internet access will be limited to 512kbps.

According to U Mobile, they are the first telco in Malaysia to offer 8×8 5G-A broadband in Malaysia, which allows the ‘up to 2Gbps speeds’ claim when using their 5G network. They’re also the first to offer AI-Powered Game Turbo, which is basically network prioritisation for gaming traffic, allowing ‘fibre-like’ gameplay.

Compared to the ‘non-Pro’ U Mobile Ultra Home 5G plans, you’re getting double the FUP quota, as well as a better WiFi 7 router. Speaking of the router, U Mobile claims that the Ultra Home 5G Pro will also come with the first ‘ultra performance’ WiFi 7 5G-A router in Malaysia. The Huawei H168 router will be bundled along with your Ultra Home 5G Pro plan, which is worth up to RM1,200.

It’s also perhaps worth noting that at time of writing, the Ultra Home 5G Pro plans are only available in Peninsular Malaysia for now, with availability in East Malaysia to be announced by U Mobile in the future.
