Tesla Cybertruck Police Interceptor

June 11, 2024

Police departments use all kinds of emergency response vehicles ranging from humble hatchbacks to high-speed pursuit vehicles like the Porsche 911 Turbo. That said, when it comes to the “wow” factor, all of them pale in comparison to a Tesla Cybertruck.

A company in California called UP.FIT, which is a division of Unplugged Performance, is an expert in upfitting Teslas for fleet use. Ignoring conventional wisdom, it has produced a Cybertruck Patrol vehicle that can meet the needs of various first responders, from police, fire departments to tactical agencies.

“The UP.FIT Cybertruck Next-Gen Patrol vehicle represents a significant engineering leap into the future, and we’re excited to offer law enforcement agencies the future of policing,” said Ben Schaffer, CEO of Unplugged Performance.

Besides the sinister black paint job and discreet graphics, UP.FIT upgrades the entire vehicle to feature the latest technology needed to get the job done. It comes with a suite of warning lights, sirens, PA system as well as upgraded radio and computer systems.

In addition to this, the Cybertruck can be customised for tactical, military or search and rescue missions with various accessories. It can be configured with prisoner partitions, storage for weapons and specialty tools as well as K9 enclosures.

The company also upgraded the vehicle dynamics with forged wheel and tyre packages, braking systems, and optional upgrades for off-road use. If necessary, they can also install Starlink internet connectivity, allowing first responders to stay connected even in remote areas.

Tesla Cybertruck’s sports-like performance combined with its offroad capabilities make it an enticing prospect for law enforcement agencies. At least that’s what the company says because the project has managed to garner interest from agencies across the US that want to enhance their patrol capabilities.

UP.FIT prefers to use Teslas for the core of its business model because of its deployable software updates and advanced R&D deployment. They also offer lower maintenance costs compared to other fleet vehicles. Lastly, they are supported by a large supercharging network that allows exceptionally quick charging speeds.

The Cybertruck comes in three different configurations: Cyberbeast, All-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. They can accelerate from 0-100km/h in close to 2.6 seconds, 4.1 seconds, and 6.5 seconds, respectively. What makes this feat even more astonishing is the fact that the vehicle weighs about three tons without special equipment.

UP.FIT is taking Cybertruck Next-Gen Patrol orders now with deliveries as early as late 2024. If you would like to know more about this vehicle or the company’s range of vehicles, visit up. up.fit.
