Galaxy S22 vs iPhone 13: The Display
The S22’s display is brighter, with a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13’s brightness only peaks at 795 nits.
Furthermore, the S22 has an adaptive refresh rate where it adjusts to your on-screen activity. The iPhone 13 only has a refresh rate of 60Hz, whereas Apple saved the adaptive refresh rate for the iPhone 13 Pro series.
Galaxy S22 vs iPhone 13: The Design
Both flagship models look similar to their predecessors. However, the S22’s back is primarily glass, unlike the S21. Due to fewer plastic components, the S22 isn’t as durable as the S21, but Samsung used the Gorilla Glass Victus on the S22’s front and back.
On the other hand, the iPhone 13 is as durable as its predecessor, but a phone case is still encouraged. Meanwhile, the S22 offers more rounded edges than the iPhone 13’s flat edges – this is more of a personal design preference and less of a debate.
Galaxy S22 vs iPhone 13: The Performance
The S22’s CPU might be the best amongst Android phones, but it’s still no match for iPhone 13’s A15 Bionic chip.
After a test using the Adobe Premiere Rush, we found that the S22 transcoded a 4K video in 47 seconds while the iPhone 13 transcoded it in merely 26 seconds.
Galaxy S22 vs iPhone 13: The Software
Both flagship phones run on their newest respective OS – Android 12 and iOS 15. Apple smartphones benefit from long-term OS support – for instance, 7-year-old iPhone models can still support the latest iOS 15.
However, Android doesn’t offer a support as impressive even though Samsung recently provided 4 years of OS updates.
On the other hand, the S22 provides a highly responsive under-display fingerprint sensor which the iPhone 13 doesn’t have. However, the iPhone 13 will soon allow its users to unlock their devices with FaceID, even with a mask on.
Galaxy S22 vs iPhone 13: The Final Decree
The newest flagship smartphones from Samsung and Apple have their respective strengths and weaknesses. However, we can’t deny that the iPhone 13’s superior performance and battery life slightly triumph over the S22’s brighter display.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 and the Apple iPhone 13 are great smartphone contenders, each offering a unique smartphone experience. However, the choice is yours at the end of the day, coming down to personal preference.
