REDMI Note 17 and Note 17 5G: 6.99″ AMOLED display with 7700mAh battery, from RM849
Aside from the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, Xiaomi Malaysia has also brought in the REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 5G. These more accessible midrange options are mostly the same, with the major difference being their chipset and connectivity support.

Here’s how much the REDMI Note 17 and Note 17 5G cost in Malaysia:

They will be going on sale from 5 September onwards, and until 30 September you can get them on sale with the following promo prices from the Xiaomi Malaysia website as well as the official Xiaomi store on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop:

On top of that, they’ll come with 4 years battery warranty, 2 years screen protection, 2 years back cover warranty, 2 years quality warranty, 2 months of YouTube Premium and 6 months of Google One. The Note 17 5G models will come with a free Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Active too.
REDMI Note 17 and Note 17 5G specs
You’ll be hard pressed to find any major difference between the REDMI Note 17 and the REDMI Note 17 5G at first glance. That’s because they both pack the same massive 6.99-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display, capable of an up to 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1800nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
The real difference is under the hood, with the regular REDMI Note 17 sporting a 6nm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 system-on-chip, while the REDMI Note 17 5G gets a 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 instead, which brings with it support for 5G mobile connectivity. They’ll come with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, running Android 16 skinned with HyperOS 3 out of the box.
As for their cameras, while both the REDMI Note 17 and Note 17 5G look like they come with a dual rear camera setup, only one of these ‘lenses’ is actually usable. There’s a 50MP, f/1.8 rear camera on the back, while up front is a 16MP, f/2.5 selfie shooter.
Keeping the lights on is a 7700mAh battery on both devices, with support for 45W fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging. Other features of note include an in-display fingerprint sensor, a single speaker with 200% volume boost and an IP65 dust and water resistance rating.
