Razer Mako series: Desktop gaming speakers with Chroma RGB lighting, from RM449

Razer has announced the Mako, a new line of compact desktop gaming speakers aimed at users who want more powerful audio without taking up too much desk space. The range consists of two models, the Mako and the smaller Mako X.

The Razer Mako is the more powerful of the two, featuring a 2.1-channel setup with a pair of custom-tuned 2.75-inch full-range drivers and a dedicated forward-firing 3.5-inch subwoofer. It delivers 40W RMS and up to 60W peak output, with a frequency response extending down to 45Hz.

The speakers have an angled design intended to direct sound towards the listener, while 7.1 virtual surround sound is used to create a wider soundstage for games, movies and music.

The Mako also features rear-projection Razer Chroma RGB lighting, which projects ambient lighting onto the wall behind the speakers. It supports 16.8 million colours and reactive lighting effects in more than 300 Chroma-integrated games.

Connectivity includes USB-C for both power and audio, Bluetooth 5.3 and a 3.5mm audio connection. While the Mako can run over standard USB-C power, Razer says higher output is available when paired with a compatible 45W or higher USB-C power source.

For users with less desk space, the Mako X drops the dedicated subwoofer in favour of a 2.0-channel configuration. It uses the same 2.75-inch full-range drivers, alongside built-in passive radiators to improve low-frequency response.

The Mako X delivers 30W RMS and up to 45W peak output, with a frequency response down to 60Hz. It can also run from standard USB power at up to 15W, with higher output available when connected to a compatible 45W or higher USB-C power source.

The Mako X retains 7.1 virtual surround sound and the angled speaker design, but uses a more subtle 10-zone Chroma RGB underglow instead of the Mako’s rear-projection lighting. It also supports USB-C, Bluetooth 5.3 and 3.5mm connectivity.

At time of writing, Razer has only confirmed that the Mako X is priced at RM449 and will be coming to Malaysia from 6 October onwards on the Razer Malaysia website. The Razer Mako on the other hand will only be coming in December 2026, with pricing information to be released closer to the date.
