Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 and Optics Gen 2: 12MP 3K camera and up to 9-hour battery, from RM2,119

Ray-Ban’s newest smart glasses with Meta AI built in are making their way to Malaysia. Two models are on the way, the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) for those who want a pair of sunglasses and the Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) for those who need prescription lenses, and both let you shoot photos and videos, take calls, play music and talk to Meta AI without reaching for your phone.
Ray-Ban Meta Malaysia pricing and availability

Here are the starting prices for both models in Malaysia:
- Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) – from RM2,119
- Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) – from RM2,209
Both will be available from 20 October onwards at authorised Ray-Ban stores, as well as Sunglass Hut, A-Look, SEEN and participating optical retailers nationwide.
If you’d like to try them on first, Ray-Ban is also running a pop-up at The Starhill Piazza in Kuala Lumpur from 21 October to 1 November, open daily from 10am to 10pm, where you can get your Ray-Ban Meta case custom engraved too.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) specs and features

At a glance, the Gen 3 looks more like a regular pair of Ray-Bans than before. The temples are about 1mm shorter in height and 0.3mm thinner, while the openings for the camera and LED have shrunk by 36%, making the tech much less obvious. You can pick from the classic Wayfarer in medium or large, the cat-eye Zena, or the Aviator, which is available as a Ray-Ban Meta for the first time.

The camera is a 12MP shooter that can record 3K video, and the 32GB of built-in storage fits roughly 1,000 photos or 100 30-second clips before you need to offload them. For calls and voice commands, there are now six microphones instead of five, along with wind noise reduction for when you’re out and about.

There’s also a new action button that you can assign to your most-used feature or Meta AI shortcut. On a full charge, the Gen 3 lasts up to 9 hours, and it connects over Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6.
Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) specs and features

If you already wear glasses every day, the Optics (Gen 2) is the one built around prescription lenses, including Transitions lenses that darken outdoors and clear up indoors. It comes in the Blayzer, in medium or large, and the Scriber, with new Transparent Shiny Dark Olive, Shiny Brick Brown and Transparent Shiny Ocean Blue colourways.

Since these are meant to be worn all day, Ray-Ban has focused on fit. The front frame is thinner, the temple tips flex to match your head shape, and an overextension hinge gives the arms a bit more room. The nose pads are swappable too, with two extra sets thrown in.

Under the frame, you get the same 12MP 3K camera, six-microphone array and assignable action button as the Gen 3, plus Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6. Battery life is slightly shorter at over 8 hours.

With either pair, you can ask Meta AI what you’re looking at, get suggestions on the go, or translate a conversation or sign in front of you. English, Italian, Spanish, German and other European languages are already supported for translation, and Bahasa Melayu is set to join the list on 20 October. Music from Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music plays through the glasses, and apps like Shazam, Audible, Calm and Be My Eyes are supported as well, though not every feature may be available in every region.
