Oppo Reno 16 Pro: Compact 6.32″ display, 200MP shooter and 6700mAh battery, for RM3,699

Oppo has announced the Oppo Reno 16 Pro, their latest premium midrange smartphone that sits just shy of their flagship models. Despite having plenty going for it, such as its compact size, large battery and camera setup, its high price tag may be too much for Malaysians to swallow.

The Oppo Reno 16 Pro comes in a single configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM3,699. It is already available for pre-order via the Oppo Malayisa website, and if you’re at their roadshow in IOI City Mall Putrajaya between 8 to 12 July you can also get its exclusive roadshow price of RM3,299.

Built out of aerospace-grade aluminum for its frame and a single pane of glass on the back, the Reno 16 Pro is as thin as 8.2mm and as light as 188g. It houses a compact 6.32-inch AMOLED display pushing a 2640 x 1216 resolution with an up to 144Hz refresh rate, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and a peak brightness of 1800nits.

Under the hood, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro comes with a MediaTek DImensity 8550 system-on-chip, a 4nm mobile processor that sits just below the top-of-the-line silicon from MediaTek. It’s paired to 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, with Android 16 out of the box skinned with ColorOS 16 over it. You’ll also find 5 years of OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches.

As for its cameras, Oppo says the Reno 16 Pro comes with an ‘Ultra Clear’ camera setup, featuring a 200MP, f/1.8 main camera, a 50MP, f/2.0 ultrawide, a 50MP, f/2.8 telephoto for 2.5x optical zoom as well as a 5MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter sitting up front.

Keeping the lights on is a pretty large 6,700mAh battery, considering the size of the device. It comes with support for up to 80W wired SuperVOOC and UFCS fast charging too. Other features of note include an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, as wella s IP68, IP69 and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings.
