Nothing Phone (4b): Snapdragon-powered midranger with Glyph Bar, its largest battery ever

After weeks of teasing, London-based tech company Nothing has finally unveiled the Phone (4b) on the global stage. While not officially in Malaysia just yet, their latest midrange smartphone is set to debut on our shores soon.

Built using the unibody design of the Phone (4a) Pro, the Phone (4b) eschews the transparent look that has defined Nothing devices over the years, with a plain back panel and a camera plateau up top housing its cameras. There, you’ll also find the Glyph Bar from the Phone (4a), which lights up for your notifications, calls, charging status, timer countdown and more.

The screen meanwhile is a 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display, pushing a 1080p resolution with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, an up to 1000Hz touch sampling rate, a peak brightness of 2,000nits, and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. There’s also a layer of Dragontail Pro glass over it for scratch resistance.

Under the hood, Nothing has kitted out the Phone (4b) with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 4nm system-on-chip that’s been paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It runs Android 16 out of the box, skinned with Nothing OS 4.1 over it and Nothing claims it’ll guarantee a minimum of three major Android OS upgrades and six years of security patches for the Phone (4b).

As for its cameras, the dual rear cameras in the camera plateau comprise of a main 50MP, f/1.8 shooter with a 1/2.76″ image sensor flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter. Up front meanwhile is a 16MP, f/2.4 selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 5,200mAh battery, Nothing’s largest to date, with support for 33W wired fast charging and 7.5W reverse wired charging.

Other features of note include an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers that offer 20% better stereo effect than the Phone (4a), an Essential Key for instant access to its AI tools along with an IP64 dust and water resistance rating.
In the UK, it starts at GBP299 (~RM1,626.61), significantly less than the Phone (4a) there that goes for GBP449 (~RM2,442.64). We’ll have to wait a little bit more for the Phone (4b) to go on sale in Malaysia, but for reference the Phone (4a) is currently priced at RM2,199 over here, after originally going on sale at RM1,999 back in April.
