Nothing Phone (2a) launches today; You can be the first 100 to get it in Malaysia
After much anticipation, the Nothing Phone (2a) will finally have its global launch tonight, and you can be among the first 100 in Malaysia to get it.
To recap, this would be the Nothing brand’s third phone launch since its founding in 2020. The brand – owned by former co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei – debuted the Phone (1) in 2022, following it up with the Phone (2) in 2023.
Now in 2024, Nothing is kicking the year off with the Phone (2a), which is a toned-down version of the Phone (2). For reference, the Phone (2) was built as a flagship contender with a price of RM2,999 for the 12GB+256GB model, and RM3,499 for the 12GB+512GB model. The (2a) will most likely be a cost-friendlier option, though no indication of pricing has been revealed just yet.
Whether the Phone (2a) will be Nothing’s only phone launch this year, or if there will be an upcoming Phone (3), well, no one knows just yet.
As to what you can expect on the Phone (2a), co-founder of Nothing, Akis Evangelidis, clarified in the Nothing Community Update that it will leverage on some of the most-loved features of the Phone (2), “while ensuring it delivers on a clear upgrade compared to Phone (1) on every single front.”
For now, the only confirmed specification is that the Phone (2a) will don the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor. In terms of design, it looks like it will dual vertically arranged camera lenses resembling in more than one ways a pair of eyes; and that the Glyph Interface will still be present, albeit in a different arrangement as the Phone (2). The rest, we’ll have to wait till tonight (5th March), when it launches globally at 7.30PM Malaysia time.
The Phone (2a) will arrive by the masses in Malaysia at a later date. However, Nothing confirms that 100 units of the Phone (2a) will be sold in Kuala Lumpur the day after the launch as part of its #THE100 Drops promo. This will take place at only one location, at a very specific time, and on a first-come first-served basis, the details of which can be found below:
