5,000 Free Courses To Be Offered During National Training Week (NTW) 2023
The National Training Week (NTW) 2023 is set to take place on the 22nd May – 28th May 2023. The week-long event is organized by the Ministry of Human Resource (MOHR) and aims to offer 5,000 free courses to Malaysians who are looking to upskill themselves.
In this article from The Star, Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) chief executive Datuk Shahul Dawood said that the National Training Week seeks to address issues of job mismatch and unemployment currently plaguing the workforce.
As such, National Training Week targets not just urban Malaysians, but also those in the Orang Asli community as well as differently-abled Malaysians.
Beyond physical classes, Malaysians can take the courses through remote learning, hybrid learning, or self-paced e-learning.
In the same article, The Star quotes Datuk Shahul: “You can do it at home, at the mosque or surau, it’s not only for urban Malaysians. We are targeting all kinds of audiences such as the Orang Asli, those who are differently-abled and senior citizens.”

The National Training Week was pre-launched back in mid-April, in which New Straits Times quotes Human Resource Minister V. Sivakumar: “The ministry expects NTW to attract more than 5,000 trainers and collaborators who will deliver more than 5,000 training courses, record more than 500,000 training hours, and create more than RM250 million in training value.”
The National Training Week is also part of a longer term effort to achieve 35% skilled workforce targets by 2025 under the 12th Malaysia Plan.
Malaysians can expect to upskill themselves in a broad range of skill areas, including Accounting & Finance, Computer & Information Technology, Creative Design, Human Resources, and Soft Skills, among many others.
